Oxidation treatment methods for copper tableware

After oxidation of copper tableware, the following methods can be adopted for treatment:

Physical cleaning method

Soft cloth wiping: Use a soft cloth to gently wipe the surface of copper tableware to remove dust and loose oxide layers. This method is suitable for tableware with a relatively light degree of oxidation. It is simple to operate and will not cause damage to the tableware.

For copper tableware with a stubborn oxide layer, a fine steel wool or copper brush can be gently used for surface grinding. However, pay attention to the force applied to avoid excessive polishing that may scratch the surface of the tableware.

Industrial scouring pads dry wiping: Industrial scouring pads have strong cleaning power. Dry wiping and polishing can remove dirt and oxide layers on the surface of copper tableware. However, when using them, the force should be controlled to prevent the tableware from being scratched.

Chemical cleaning method

A combination of toothpaste, dishwashing liquid and white vinegar for cleaning: Take out a dishwashing sponge, squeeze a little toothpaste on it, then add some dishwashing liquid and white vinegar, and directly scrub the copper tableware. The acetic acid in white vinegar can effectively dissolve the oxide layer, while toothpaste and dishwashing liquid can enhance the cleaning effect and make tableware shine and look new quickly.

Vinegar soaking method: Pour white vinegar into a container, immerse the copper tableware in it for about 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it clean with water and dry it with a clean cloth. The acetic acid in white vinegar can dissolve the oxide layer and restore the luster of tableware. You can also add a few pieces of cut orange peels to vinegar. The acid in vinegar promotes the oxidation process, and the fatty acid substances in orange peels can make copper appear bright red. However, this method has limited effect and it takes a relatively long time to achieve the desired effect.

Citric acid treatment: Dissolve citric acid powder in water, soak copper tableware in the solution for about 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry. Citric acid can undergo a chemical reaction with the oxide layer, dissolving and removing it.

Ammonia water treatment: Mix ammonia water and water in a ratio of 1:10. Immerse the copper tableware in it for about 10 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with water and dry it. Ammonia water can react with the oxide layer, thereby achieving the purpose of cleaning.

Lemon and salt mixture treatment: Mix lemon juice and salt and apply it to the surface of copper tableware. Let it stand for a few minutes and then wipe it clean with a soft cloth. The acidic substances in lemon juice work together with salt to remove the oxide layer.

Mix vinegar and salt for treatment: Mix vinegar and salt to form a paste, apply it to the surface of copper tableware, let it stand for a few minutes, and then wipe it clean with a soft cloth. The mixture of vinegar and salt can corrode and dissolve the oxide layer.

Baking soda paste treatment: Mix baking soda with a small amount of water to form a paste, apply it to the oxidized area, and wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Baking soda has a slight alkalinity and can react with the oxide layer to remove it.

Professional cleaning agent treatment

Copper bright Cleaner: If the copper tableware is only slightly oxidized, it can be soaked and cleaned in a copper bright cleaner, then rinsed thoroughly with water and subjected to passivation and rust prevention treatment. In this way, the tableware can remain bright and new for a long time.

Polishing treatment method

Professional copperware polishing agent or metal polishing agent treatment: By using professional copperware polishing agent or metal polishing agent and following the product instructions step by step, the surface of copper tableware can achieve a mirror-like luster.

Treatment with A mixed polishing solution of Agent A and Agent B: Using a mixed polishing solution of Agent A and Agent B to polish the surface of copper tableware can restore the surface luster of the tableware to its original state.
